Castle Saunderson stands as a layered composite built across the late 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. It occupies the site where Captain Alexander Saunderson reputedly raised a lime-and-stone house with two flankers before the Williamite wars erased it. The surviving walls belong to later hands, yet they still shadow the violence that first cleared the ground.
