Farnane Castle is a hidden motte in County Limerick, Ireland, where a natural scarp still marks a small oval platform beside a Georgian house. Dense vegetation now smotheres the earthworks, but the sharp eastern drop and wide views suggest a place chosen to be seen before it was forgotten. Perhaps people once stood there at dusk, reading the land below while the woods closed around them.

Situated in a wooded area c. 50m NE of a Georgian house and garden. On a natural scarp with a sharp drop to the E, with good views in all directions. Indicated on the 1923 OS 6-inch map as a sub-circular area (diam. c. 20m) defined by a scarp, near to 'Castle, site of'. The monument is covered by dense vegetation overgrowth.
