What is recorded here

Castle is a lost motte and bailey in Dellin, County Louth, now visible only through cropmarks rather than stones. Its oval enclosure measured sixty-five to seventy metres across before a northern fosse cut through it, suggesting the castle was damaged, abandoned or deliberately broken open. The absence of ruins does not diminish it; it removes the false certainty that a castle must still stand to have mattered.

Cropmarks on aerial photographs (CUCAP: AYM 63 and BDG 82) show an oval enclosure (max. diam. c. 65-70m) with its northern portion cut off by a fosse.
