Down Survey drafters marked a tower house on a rise in Coshma Barony around 1657, yet no other mention has survived to explain who built it, defended it or abandoned it. The drawing preserves more than the forgotten name: a vertical shadow on open land, likely watched roads, fields or water. Whatever Pollagh was, it was important enough to measure and doubtful enough to vanish from memory.

Westropp (1906-7, 168) recorded the following details about Pollagh Castle; '1657 "C[astle]. on Polagh" (D.S.A., 42). No other mention, a doubtful site'.
