What is recorded here

Castle Hedingham is a medieval motte-and-bailey castle in Essex, England, originally built in the 12th century and later expanded by the powerful de Vere family, Earls of Oxford. It is important for its historical association with the Anglo-Norman aristocracy and as a rare surviving example of early castle architecture in the region.
