What is recorded here

Castle Car anchors the O’Rourke identity in Glencar Valley, where a tower house rose from a rock outcrop beside a narrow stream. In 1487, the castle became the focus of a violent siege after Felim O’Rourke was imprisoned there, an event tied to one of the earliest known uses of guns in Ireland. It was rebuilt, outlived that crisis, and still stood through the sixteenth century as a local centre of power before declining into ruin. Today its fragments remain exposed on the valley floor, preserving the shape of a place where Gaelic authority, military change and ordinary settlement all collided.
Castle Car is recorded as a castle in County Leitrim. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
