Doon Barnagh is a stone ringfort on the Dartry plateau, its grass-covered circle widening to twenty-one metres beneath a sky that never fully belongs to humans. The western wall still stands thick enough to hold a shadow, while two gaps break the line as if the fort forgot how to keep its own counsel. People may have lived inside, or the fort may have waited for people to arrive later. Either way it overlooks Glencar valley like a judge who stopped speaking but never stopped watching.

Located on a rise called Doon Barnagh at the S edge of the Dartry plateau, and overlooking the floor of Glencar valley. Grass-covered circular area (int. diam. 21.1m N-S; 20.6m E-W) defined by a drystone wall which is best preserved at W (original Wth 3.3m; int. H 1.35m; ext. H 0.4m). There is an entrance gap (Wth 7m) at NE and a second gap (Wth 6.6m) flanked by limestone uprights is at E.
