Knockaroura Hill holds a ghost cairn just northeast of its summit. Men stripped every stone, leaving only a circular bare patch under the forest to mark the loss. Seventy metres southwest, a radial-stone cairn still stands, proving the first was no fantasy but a made thing. The erased carn may have marked a boundary, a burial or a warning, yet the earth kept its shape long after human hands destroyed the evidence.

Just NE of NE summit of Knockaroura Hill. OS Name Book records 'The stones composing this carn have all been removed. The site is marked and locally known by a circular bare patch of ground.'
