Care Scar is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous limestone, formed around 340–320 million years ago through the accumulation of marine sediments. The cliff is notable for its exposure of layered rock formations that provide insights into ancient reef environments and are of interest to geologists and fossil collectors.
