Cardoness Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Cardoness Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Cardoness Castle, a medieval tower house on the Isle of Arran, was built in the late 15th or early 16th century, likely by the Campbell family, who were prominent in the region. It is important as a well-preserved example of a defensive Scottish tower house and reflects the historical power struggles in the Clyde area during the late medieval period.
