Castlehill Prison and Police Office stood in Campbeltown during the nineteenth century, guarding the town with stone walls and human watchfulness. Whether it held drunk sailors, debtors or dangerous men is no longer certain, but the build suggests fear of losing control. The exact position remains known even though the chamber itself has faded from memory.
