Cairn

Cairn, unclassified

What is recorded here

Cairn is an unclassified stone pile in West Galway, still unvisited by modern record but remembered through local knowledge. It may have marked a grave, a boundary, or a passing route before the land closed over it. The stones still lie where they were set, waiting for someone to walk past and imagine the hands that placed them.
80m E of GA110-108----. A small overgrown cairn of stones (info. J. Waddell). Not visited. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
