Cairn

Three loose stone cairns mark a narrow spur atop Strickeen mountain, aligned north to south as if dropping pins through the sky. They are small, rough and unshowy, yet their repetition suggests a boundary drawn where several claims, memories or territories met. The largest nearby Kerry example still stands sixty feet above the Lee Valley, wide enough to circle and tall enough to be seen from the fields below. Together they turn an ordinary mountainside into a place where visibility, ownership and remembrance were made visible.
