Caird's Cave

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Caird's Cave as Cave (prehistoric) - (post Medieval), Travellers Camp (post Medieval) - (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Caird's Cave is a natural limestone cave formed through the process of karstification, common in the Carboniferous limestone formations of southern Scotland. The cave has been used intermittently by humans, with evidence of prehistoric activity and later use as a travellers' camp during the post-medieval and 20th centuries.
