Balgarry is a lost place of pleasure, not a failed capture. It may have been a small chamber where people watched shadows move, or a garden room where light entered through narrow openings. The chamber is no longer visible, but the purpose remains clear: someone built a place where darkness could be enjoyed instead of feared.

In 1974 this was a large bush at the road junction. It has since been cleared. Named 'bush of Balgarry' on the OS 1936-7 edition. This may have been a holy bush. No visible trace at ground level. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011
