Burying Gr.

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Burying Gr appeared on Taylor's map of County Kildare in 1783 but vanished from the earlier Noble and Keenan chart of 1752. That gap suggests a new death, a sudden burial or a changed boundary between the two surveys. The place may have marked a ordinary Christian grave rather than the Quaker graveyard nearby. It remains a small wound in the landscape where someone stopped living and the soil closed over them.
Marked 'Burying Gr' on Taylor's map of County Kildare (1783), but not marked by Noble and Keenan on their map of the county (1752). No further information. This probably not the Quaker graveyard which is in the same townland. Date of upload: 5 September 2016
