What is recorded here

In pasture, on the top of a low ridge with a steep fall to the shoreline of Lough Gara at SSW. The westernmost of two oval dark features (see SL046-041002-), c. 50m apart, which are visible in an aerial photograph (ACAP, V 227/50-1). Some dark coloured soil is visible in the area though no burnt stones, characteristic of fulachtaí fia, are evident. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
