Burnt spread in Garranes (glanarought By., Ardea Ed)

In rough hill pasture, on the S bank of a tributary of the Glantrasna River, to the W of the Kenmare-Lauragh road. A layer of burnt material is exposed by a recently dug NE-SW drain in a blanket-bog hollow. The material is exposed on the upper ground surface, along both sides of the drain and at the base of the drain. In section, the layer (L 11m; D 0.7m) narrows towards the NE and SW ends along the SE face of the drain. The layer continues through the NW face of the drain.
