What is recorded here

The first is a low ridge of blackened stone and dark earth, at least six metres long and forty centimetres high, hidden beneath overgrowth on the north bank of a spring-fed stream in Rusheens West. The second lies ten metres south, a smaller burnt mound in the same damp pasture. Heat and water touched that ground repeatedly, perhaps for cooking, cleaning or ceremony, while people watched the stream rise and fall. Both mounds still hold the shape of that repeated labour, waiting beneath grass and shadow.

In rough, damp pasture, located on N side of a spring-fed stream. Burnt stone in black soil is exposed on the S side of a low rise or mound (L at least c. 6m; H 0.4m), thickly covered in overgrowth. Burnt mound in Rusheens West is a Bronze Age ritual or industrial site, characterized by heated stones and associated with water sources. Its presence indicates early land use and possible ceremonial activity in the local landscape.
