Burnt mound in Boggaun (drumahaire By.)

Situated in a basin at the base of a W-facing slope. Archaeological testing (12E0128) over an area of about 10 ha (c. 25 acres) identified four areas of burnt mound material in two adjacent N-S trenches. This was a small amorphous deposit (dims 1.2m x 1m; T 0.08m) beneath topsoil (D 0.4m), and was completely excavated. Hazel and ash were present in a soil sample (McKenna 2013, 6).
