Burnt mound in Barrees

In rough hill pasture, on a N-facing slope. A D-shaped grass-covered mound (3m N-S; straight N side: L 4.6m E-W; H 0.3m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil, possibly the eroded remains of a larger mound. There is an enclosure (CO102-031007-) c. 30m to the NE and a fulacht fia (CO102-031009-) c. 140m to the SW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
