What is recorded here

Fourteen people died in Keenoge before the mound closed over them. Six lay inside cists while the others rested directly in earth, all bent double as if leaving in a hurry. They took eight food vessels, one ash urn and a single jet necklace into the dark. The mound still stands forty metres wide, holding that much abandoned life beneath ordinary grass.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
