What is recorded here

Caherconnell is a small village on the west Clare coast where the land is cut into ridges and valleys by ancient water. The burial mound sits within that landscape as a human addition to the natural shape of the place. It may have marked death, ownership, memory or warning, but its simplicity still fits the coast: a low ridge of earth that does not need explanation to be powerful.
