What is recorded here
Sand dunes in Dooey, County Antrim, buried a life or several lives before anyone wrote the event down. The grains moved like breath, covering skin, cloth and bone until the landscape forgot the shape of the person beneath. What is certain is only that death happened there and the dunes kept it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BURIAL in SAND DUNES. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
