Françoise Henry dug a crouched skeleton from the northeast terrace of Bailey Mór mound in 1946, finding it literally rolled into a ball just beyond the house door. The tight posture still startles because nearby burials lay extended, suggesting this person entered death under fear, injury or a different custom. Henry never published the result, so the dead person remains nameless while the mound keeps the shape of their final moment.

On a terrace on the NE side of the summit of Bailey Mór mound (MA023-014003-), a few meters N of a house (MA023-014008-). This crouched inhumation was excavated by Françoise Henry in 1946. The excavation was not published, and the only details we have of the burial are in Henry’s excavation diary, which notes that the skeleton ‘was literally rolled into a ball’ and lay c. 2.75m N of the door of the house, with no grave marker evident on the surface (Greene 2009, 159). The date of the burial is unknown; its tightly crouched position is noteworthy, and singles it out from the extended layout of other burials (MA023-014025- to MA023-01428-; MA023-01430-) found on this part of the mound.
