Burial in Dublin South City

Burial

What is recorded here

Hatch Lane and Earlsfort Terrace conceal more than concrete and brick. In 1976, foundation diggers struck human remains sixteen inches below the street, but no artifact appeared beside the bone to identify the dead or date the event. The city continues to build above that unnamed gap, carrying a life it never learned to remember.
In 1976 human remains were discovered while digging foundations at Hatch Lane/20 Earlsfort Terrace. No associated artefacts were found with the bone. They had occurred below ground level (D 0.60m) (NMI). Not precisely located.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
