January 1976, construction tools broke through a metre of soil at the old Presbytery in Dromin, County Kerry, and touched human bones beneath a thick layer of discarded modern rubbish. The dead had waited under kitchen waste and forgotten hurry, perhaps buried in a hurry themselves when the presbytery was still alive with prayer and argument. Whatever name was spoken at that burial has not survived, but the body remained steady while the world above kept throwing garbage down.

In January 1976, human remains were discovered during construction works on the site of the old Presbytery at Dromin. The remains were noticed at a depth of c. 1m below ground level, the upper 0.75m of which consistsed of redeposited modern midden material. Compiled by: Matt Kelleher Date of upload: 28 January 2013
