Coolgrange in County Kilkenny holds a female skeleton buried east-west in gravel, waiting beneath an ordinary ridge. Quarrying broke the silence in 1988, dragging her upper half into light after centuries of darkness. She may have been a mother, a traveller or a forgotten neighbour, but the gravel kept her long enough for memory to return.
