What is recorded here

Kilcummin is a graveyard where the dead were buried before human activity covered them. It is no longer visible because the land was changed and the stones were lost beneath new building. What remains is the memory of a place where people once lived, died and were forgotten.

Kilcummin (Cill Chuimín Mhór/ the big church of Cuimín) Church: There is no trace of the church (KE035-052----) and burial ground (KE035-052001-) marked in the village of Kilcummin on the OS maps. In the 1840's a portion of the site was cultivated and, during the construction of houses on the remainder, tomb stones were uncovered (OSNB Killiney, 40). The above description is derived from J.
