Shanbally is an ancient burial ground in Oldtown where a rough mountain flag-stone still bears a carved Celtic cross. Local tradition claims the cross marks the grave of a bishop, though no name survives to confirm the claim. The stone remains unpolished and unapologetic, forcing every visitor to wonder whether faith or fear drove the chisel that cut it.

Unlocated graveyard described by Comerford as 'About two miles south of Clopoke is an ancient place of interment, called Shanavally (old town). On a mountain flag-stone is traced the device of a Celtic cross (LA034-042), the rest of the stone being left in the rough.
