Lisdoo in County Louth, Ireland holds two shallow graves, one east-west and the other disturbed by ploughs, waiting beneath ordinary soil. The dead may have been family, strangers or forgotten neighbours, but the earth kept their shapes long after memory faded. New homes still hover above them, forcing living people to pause before burying more of the past beneath concrete.

Excavations in advance of a proposed residential development (Excavation Licence No. 04E1641) uncovered a shallow grave-cut containing a single inhumation burial orientated E-W. Additional human remains recovered from the ploughsoil around this grave indicate the presence of another disturbed burial in the immediate vicinity. No further excavation work was carried out.
