What is recorded here

Knocknagoun holds a famine burial ground inside a triangle of waste on the south side of a road, marked only by dumped stone, earth and overgrowth. Local tradition, not formal record, gives the place its name and purpose. The land may have swallowed ordinary people during a time when Cork stopped distinguishing between living streets and dead ground.
