What is recorded here

No visible marker remains in Gubanummera, but a rectangular hollow about six metres across and a metre and a half deep is preserved in the description. Its border was a mortared wall nearly a metre thick, strong enough to suggest that the people who built it wanted the place to keep its shape against rain, foot traffic and forgetting. It may have held graves, or it may have been a chamber, a shrine room, a boundary marker made solid. The uncertainty does not weaken the image: someone measured a small box in the earth, built it with mortar, and left it for others to remember.

There is a description of a rectangular hollow (dims c. 6m x c. 6m; D c. 1.5m) defined by the remains of a mortared wall (Wth c. 0.9m), which was thought to be a graveyard (Faughnan c. 1943).
