No visible surface trace of burials remains in the pasture on the steep WSW-facing slope in Ballyva, County Cork. Yet local tradition insists the field is a burial ground, suggesting the dead are hidden beneath the grass and forgotten by modern eyes. The absence of proof does not erase the claim; it forces us to imagine the lives lost and the hands that buried them before the land became ordinary pasture.
