Burial ground in Ballybaun (dunkellin By.)

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Badgers have torn open the burial ground inside the ecclesiastical enclosure at Ballybaun, exposing numerous human bones on a raised area. The animals treat sacred death as ordinary quarry, pulling forgotten lives into daylight without permission or pity. What priests once kept hidden beneath soil, the badgers now scatter across the earth like broken beads.
Within the interior of the E segment of an ecclesiastical enclosure (GA104-015004-). A raised area, much disturbed by badgers which have exposed numerous human bones, marks a burial ground associated with the enclosure (pers. comm. Prof. E. Rynne December 1983).
