What is recorded here

Burial Gd (Disused) is an abandoned burial ground in County Cork, Ireland, hidden within rough grazing and marked only by a low earth and stone wall running southeast to northwest. The site resisted capture on the 1842 Ordnance Survey map, suggesting it belonged to a community or tradition that preferred invisibility over record. Possible gravemarkers still break the grass, waiting for someone to notice that death and memory can occupy the same forgotten field.
In rough grazing. Not shown on OS 6-inch map (1842). Irregular area partially enclosed (SE->NW) by earth and stone wall (H 0.2m). Some possible gravemarkers noted. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
