Burial Gd stands at the southeast edge of Dursey Island, a rectangular yard where low uninscribed stones mark forgotten lives beside a ruined church. The modern wall excludes rain but cannot keep out time, for the graves hold no names to anchor them in memory. What is certain is the shape of the place and the absence of identification on most stones. What is possible is that durable stone resisted forgetting longer than wooden crosses or oral tradition.
