Knockdrum fort still stands in Gurranes, but the bullaun stone a hundred metres north has vanished from human memory. A missing stone beside an occupied fort suggests people once repeated gestures there, perhaps marking time, praying or remembering someone the forgot to name. The land keeps the shape of that loss even when the stone no longer answers.
