What is recorded here
Bullán is a large irregular boulder in County Cork, Ireland, marked by a circular hollow near its eastern edge. It lies eight metres southwest of a burial ground, where the dead may have gathered beneath open sky. The hollow suggests repeated use, perhaps for washing, pouring or prayer, though no handler remains to explain the rhythm. The stone still holds that abandoned shape, waiting for hands to remember what it learned.
Lying c. 8m SW of burial ground (9352). Large irregular boulder (1.45m x 1.25m) with circular hollow (diam. 0.17m; D 0.14m) towards E end of upper surface.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, the circular hollow may have been used for ritual or domestic purposes such as grinding or as a basin. No specific folklore or symbolic meaning is recorded for this site.
