Building

What is recorded here

Archaeological excavations (96E0047) were carried out by Martin Reid for the Kilkenny Main Drainage Scheme in 1996 (Reid 1996, 65-7, unpublished; 1997). The foundations (0.85m Wth) of a rectangular (5.5m NW-SE, 2.5m NE-SW) medieval building with associated deposits containing medieval pottery were uncovered. The building was truncated by the 18th-century walls of a millrace that extends from the River Breagagh into the former precinct of the Franciscan friary (KK019-026101-).
