Building in Fínis

On the NW shoreline of Fínis, on a small headland, overlooking beaches to the NE and SW. A ruined congested districts board house lies c. 20m to the SE. This rectangular sunken building (4.2m N-S; 2.7m E-W), which was brought to our attention by Erin Gibbons in April 2014, is constructed of granite boulders. A gap (Wth 0.7m) at the N end of the E wall marks the doorway. Double-walling (Wth 0.6m) is evident along the E wall but only the inner face of the other walls, which are up to 1m below the surrounding ground level, is visible.
