Brother Walfrid was born Andrew Kerins in Ballymote, County Sligo, on 18 May 1840. He became a Marist Brother, taught in Scotland, and in 1887 founded Celtic Football Club to raise money for poor Catholic children in Glasgow. He later worked in London’s East End, feeding barefoot children through The Poor Children's Dinner Table. He died in Dumfries on 17 April 1915, leaving behind a brother in Cloghboley and a life marked by teaching, charity, and football.
