What is recorded here

Melted brass and broken clay still mark the Ballyarnet mound, though whether people lived there or built a crannog remains unresolved. The Bronze Age label is clear; the purpose is not. A mound may have been a home, a temple, a boundary marker or a mistake repeated by later hands. What is certain is that the ground changed, tools broke, and someone abandoned the place before writing existed to explain why.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BRONZE AGE OCCUPATION SITE & MOUND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: BRONZE AGE; PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
