Two bronze age burnt mounds still mark Ballygortgarve, where hot stones may have crashed into water to steam food, ease muscle pain or clean tools before anyone wrote the purpose down. They are not a fantasy circle or a vague legend; they are recorded local remains that connect ordinary people across centuries. Early Christian activity also belongs in the same place, suggesting the land kept being lived on long after the first fires cooled.
