The *Briton* was a 19th-century British merchant vessel that sank in 1847 near the Isle of Cumbra, Scotland, after striking a reef; all 12 crew members were lost, along with a cargo of coal bound for Glasgow. The wreck is significant as a well-preserved example of early Victorian-era coastal trade shipping.
