Double-arch red brick railway bridge, built c.1865, spanning river. No longer in use. Angled elliptical-headed arches having oversailing rowlock red brick voussoirs and diagonally arranged running bond red brick soffits springing from red brick piers. Flemish cross bond red brick walls to spandrels and parapet, having chamfered render coping to southern parapet wall. Randomly coursed rubble stone abutting wall to east and west ends of south elevation, with chamfered render coping.

The striking red brick fabric makes this bridge a prominent landmark on the outskirts of Bandon. The unusual skewed alignment is emphasised by the well-executed red brick arch voussoirs and soffits. Apparently built for Lord Bandon to accommodate a private platform at Castle Bernard, it is a reminder of the wealth and power of the family in the past.
