Bridge in Kellysgrove

Egan (1960, 26) records that the togher (GA088-014----) crossing Kellysgrove bog, which was believed to connect Clontuskert Abbey (GA088-001----) to the S with the church (GA088-020001-) in Pollboy to the N, was known locally as the ‘Monks’ Pass’. Near it was the ‘Monks’ Well’ (GA088-015----) and the ‘Priest’s Kish’. The word ‘kish’ is sometimes used for a small makeshift bridge found in bog and straddling a drain.
