What is recorded here
Two bridges across the Shannon are marked on the Down Survey (1656-8) Barony map of Leitrim barony, N and S of Jamestown. This is the only record of a bridge N of the town and is probably speculative as it was intended that a town would develop at Charlestown on the Roscommon side of the river as a county town for that county, but it never came to pass.
