Constructed of rusticated limestone with rock-faced voussoirs to arch. Parapet walls constructed of rubble limestone. Splayed rusticated limestone retaining walls to either side. Located to the north of Horseleap.
A robust and elegantly-appointed railway bridge representing an important element of the transport and civil engineering heritage of County Westmeath. This bridge was originally built by the Midland and Great Western Railway Company to serve the Streamstown Junction to Clara line which opened in 1863, closed in 1960 with the track lifted in 1966. This bridge is one of a number of similar bridges in the area associated with this company. This bridge is well-built using rusticated local limestone, a typical feature of mid nineteenth-century engineering projects of this nature.
