Remains of stone railway bridge, built 1886, formerly carrying embanked Carrickmacross branch line over road. Formerly beam bridge, deck now removed. Snecked rock-faced rusticated cut-stone abutments having rusticated and margined quoins and chamfered cornice, with dressed stone terminal piers. Splayed snecked cut-stone wing walls to each side with moulded brick copings. Embankment now removed.

The stone dressing of this bridge is typical of several railway bridges on this railway line and displays skilled stone masonry. The rock-faced treatment to the abutments emphasises their strength and structural role. Despite the loss of its deck it remains a visual reminder of the Great Northern Railway which closed in the mid-twentieth century and adds interest to its rural roadside setting. Beam bridges, in which the railway track was carried on piers or abutments are less usual in Monaghan than arched railway bridges, and despite the missing deck, this is quite a complete example.
